As Exciting as Watching Food Rot…

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Have you ever felt like you were rapidly aging? Have you ever felt like a banana? Have you ever felt like an aging banana? Does any of this make sense?

Thanks to YouTube, you can watch actually watch the complete “shriveling cycle” of a watermelon, pumpkin and a family of bananas (my personal favorite)!

So, the next time you’re feeling a bit down as a result of pondering how quickly life passes, just re-watch these clips to confirm this notion ;-)

Amazon.com in HBO Confusion

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

This evening, Amazon.com sent me an email. Why? Because they LOVE me.

The email was about saving money on DVD’s from HBO.

Featured in the email are DVD sets of Curb, Sopranos, Entourage, SATC & Everybody Loves Raymond. Huh?

Raymond was NEVER on HBO. It was on CBS. What gives?

Iris Bahr Goes to Shul

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Iris Bahr is an actress. Jewish too. You may recognize her from somewhere. More on that later. There was a piece about her in yesterday’s Page Six. Link.

Ms. Bahr is also coming out with a fascinating book.

Now, where do you know her from? Well, she is the Orthodox woman from Curb Your Enthusiasm. The episode with sundown on the ski lift.

As an Orthodox Jew who watches TV religiously, I can confirm that the sundown law is baseless. It simply does not exist in Jewish law. Nonetheless, the episode was still very funny.

Part #1. Part #2. Part #3. And Part #4.

My Walmart Experiment

Friday, October 27th, 2006

There was always this thing nagging at me. Besides for my mother. And father. And family. And my community.

What is this thing? It was more of a theory. I wondered if instead of exercising in a gym, would it be possible to conduct a complete workout in a department store (?).

An old wise man once told me “Life is short. Before you know it, you’re old and frail and you realize that you never had the chance to test out your department store ideas.”

Well said. Here it is below. You can also rate it here.

Maria Sansone Wishes Drudge a Happy Bday

Friday, October 27th, 2006

Who is Maria Sansone? Well she is the host of The 9.

And what is The 9? Nope. It’s not a new drama on FOX. Close though.

It’s a new initiative from Pepsi and Yahoo. The 9 promises to deliver the strangest, coolest and wackiest stuff on the web. Every weekday morning. Yahooooooooooooooo!

And the host of the show is Maria Sansone. This is her homepage. Her wiki entry. Her Flickr page. And of course, the IMDB bio. (Me? I just have a crumby blog….)

Today, she wished a happy birthday to Matt Drudge who turns 24 on Sunday…

Piperlime Goes Primetime

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Today is Wednesday. I have recovered, for the most part, from my stomach virus. Thank you all for holding prayer vigils across the country. Really. I felt it. And would probably do the same for you.

For the first time ever, I recorded a YouTube clip on the topic of Piperlime. Of course, I could have done this last Tuesday. However, I did not want to distract too many Gap/piperlime employees during the first week….

Here it is!

Google News Suggests “Search Blogs”

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

In case you did not receive the web 2.0 memo, allow me to share it with you: Web 2.0, specifically blogs, are becoming more mainstream everyday. Major news sites already have blogs; including CNN, USA Today & ABC.

This morning I noticed whilst googling a topic on Google News, that there is now a new option called “Search Blogs”. Here’s a screen shot.

Let me put this into perspective; Google News traditionally will pull info from various news sources. Today, the search engine is recommending that to get the latest info/news for the topic you’re searching, you ought to be searching blogs as well!

Vljogging: Espisode #1

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Page Six calls Paris Hilton & Carmen Electra “D-list Celebs“. Who knew?!

On Sunday, the day before I got the flu, I tried out a new concept called “vljogging”.
Vljogging occurs when one combines the art of vlogging (video logging) with the sport of jogging.

You can watch that here. Also, for the future, I will not be posting all my videos on the blog. So, to stay up to speed, you can simply subscribe to my YouTube channel. Some where on this page.

YouTube Clips Ranking High on Google Results

Friday, October 20th, 2006

This morning I googled (verb) “Keith Olbermann“. It’s a morning ritual of mine. On the second page of results, I noticed a few links to YouTube clips featuring…you guessed it; Keith Olbmermann!

This makes perfect sense. As YouTube continues to gain popularity, they will begin ranking higher and higher within Google search results.

googtube (2).JPG

This is simply what we can call search 2.0. I’ll explain. A similar thing occurred with Wikipedia. At first, Wiki was a plain old site. However, thanks to its relevancy, now wiki entries rank VERY high on google.

Then there is today. Internet video has become super hot. Traffic is soaring on YouTube. More and more sites/blogs are LINKING to YouTube clips.

The result? Web video (youtube etc) beginning to rank high on google search results.

And the fact that Google now OWNS YouTube, will only help things even MORE in the long run ;-)
